In observance of the day, the ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓÆµ is encouraging students, alumni, faculty, staff and members of the Livingston community to wear red and white and show their ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓÆµ pride. ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓÆµ will host a College Colors Day photo set in front of the Young Hall Cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 4. Everyone wearing ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓÆµ red and white is invited to participate.
The ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓÆµ has announced plans for honoring summer and fall graduates at commencement exercises on Dec. 12, with ceremonies held in a hybrid format to allow graduates’ families and friends to watch live online.

ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓÆµ professor and athletic trainer Dr. R.T. Floyd has just published a new edition of a textbook that has come to serve as a cornerstone of athletic training, physical education and health science curricula across the nation.

2020 University Retirement Honorees
Each spring, the ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓÆµ recognizes its retiring faculty and staff in a formal ceremony with family, friends, and colleagues. Like many events of 2020, the ceremony could not be held this spring due to health and safety restrictions related to gathering on campus.
In its ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic the ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓÆµ is offering more relief to students by returning a portion of student fees from the fall semester. Students will be reimbursed up to $300 for previously paid student activity and student athletic fees.
The ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓÆµ has been awarded $6.5 million in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Education for a teacher residency project, Project REACh, that will be led by the Tutwiler College of Education. Project REACh, Residencies for Educating Alabama’s Children, will be a $13-million-dollar project for prospective Alabama’s educators. The funding will be disbursed over a five-year period.
The ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓÆµ will delay some of its Homecoming events originally scheduled for October 26-31 in order to adhere to government and health care guidance to preserve health and safety on campus. While some Homecoming events are postponed until spring 2021, ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓÆµ will still have a spirit week in October with a schedule of its most popular fall traditions that allow for social distancing and smaller gatherings.

The ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓÆµ has recently been recognized most favorably of the Alabama schools included in a ranking that compares college student loan debt. 

ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓÆµ President Ken Tucker has been appointed by Governor Kay Ivey to the Alabama STEM Council, which will advise state leadership on ways to improve STEM-related education, career awareness and workforce development opportunities across the state.
The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program at ÈËÆÞÖгöÊÓÆµ has earned accreditation by the Alabama Department of Public Health. Garnering top marks, this accreditation helps ensure that licensure courses offered on campus meet the highest standards and provide exceptional training.
